Surface Demo Models. I saved $1500 on my SB i7.

DISCLAIMER

Someone shared their story about a demo surface, in regards to the warranty. They stated that Microsoft and other retailers would not accept any warranty returns on the products. That being said, if you are considering buying a demo unit, please be wary of this.

Hello. I haven't found ANYTHING online about this but I spent about 10 hours looking in to it, and would like to bring everybody's attention to this- Surface Pro/Book Demo models.

What they are: Special SKU's for products that are priced as commercial demo units. The SKU for the SB that I just recieved today is VP7-00001. Search it up and you can find stores selling them online. I purchased mine from TigerDirect Canada, here's the link to the exact product I bought: Here It is still listed as in stock, for $1400 CANADIAN, which is just over a grand in current US funds.

When I looked into these demo models intently, the only thing I could find was this article, referencing these demos. It's from microsoft, but it is outdated. Here

That page states, in their second type of program, the Deal Registration Demo Program, that devices purchased cannot be sold for more than what they were paid for, which explains the incredibly low price.

I just received my SB a few hours ago (3 days after I ordered by the way), and it came in the exact same box as retail models, as well as had the same paperwork. The only difference was the sticker on the back with the model number, which was, as I said earlier, VP7-00001.

I understand that you will all want proof of this, so I will be posting a video going a little more in depth about my unit, and show the SKU and order info. Expect this in a couple days, I'll post it here.

If you have any questions, please please feel free to ask. I understand that all of you will be skeptical- I was too until I actually received the unit, booted it up and tested everything. Also feel free to ask me to find the SKU's to other models- I wouldn't have a problem finding it for you. Hopefully this post looks alright, I am new to actually posting on reddit.

EDIT I found a site called synnex, which is actually the company who owns TigerDirect. I found a list of all of the SKU's of their Microsoft products, including their demo units for all current surface devices. I have a nice list here, but you can check the website yourself Here.
