Browser, Steam, Skype all connect to internet just fine over Ethernet, but Windows 10 claims there is no internet connection. Any help is greatly appreciated!
I'm at my wit's end here. Maybe you guys can help me. 2 or so days ago Windows decided to crap itself and stopped detecting my Ethernet connection. The funny thing is that Firefox, Steam, and Skype all continue to work fine. I'm typing this post as Windows claims the connection is still not available. I would just ignore this until it goes away, but programs like Spotify and OneNote aren't detecting an active connection either. I don't know what to make of this and I can't find a single instance of anyone else with this problem.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the AsRock LAN drivers to no avail. Uninstalling the LAN driver and letting Windows have a go at fixing itself on a restart, no joy. The troubleshooter claims everything is fine. I just don't know what else I can do.
Its worth noting that my USB Wi-Fi adapter works fine with Windows drivers and there are no problems there. This problem happened before, but I assumed it had something to do with an improper removal of a VPN I used to access FO4 early. I went nuclear and completely reinstalled the OS (this was mid January). The problem only resurfaced now and I have no idea what's going on.
Thanks in advance for any advice you guys can give.
UPDATE: I fired up my system with Linux Mint to determine if my hardware was the problem. The Ethernet connection appeared completely fine which leads me to believe this is a problem with Windows itself.
