Buying a car and how it'll affect my OSAP

Hi,

I have a question in regards to buying a car and how it will affect my OSAP. I've been considering buying a car in the coming months with my own money; I've read that any vehicle that is under $5,000 will not affect your funding. However my question is that how will know they determine the value? Will it be based on the price of my purchase or do they use some other thing to base the value on?
