Build creativity seems far less diverse than past seasons.
It feels like items and design philosophy have shifted into a stale meta of item builds.
Particularly with designated Support and Jungle items.
Off-builds by their nature were often not top tier, but we just don't seem to see people trying things like AP Alistar, Yi, or Tryndamere anymore.
Part of this was definitely due to the Lich Bane changes and Deathfire Grasp removal hamstringing many AP off-builds, but generally Riot's changes have reduced the variety of viable build choices.
Riot has never exactly tried to promote off-builds, but more than ever design philosophy seems to discourage them.
The game seems to have lost a lot of its fun with this, since most item builds are cookie cutter with the exception of some situational pieces.
What are your thoughts on this?
Should Riot try to promote true alternate builds, or do you prefer the status quo?
