First time writing some poetry, tell me what you think.

The chains of depression pull me down

In this lake I lay, I drown

My calls for help are muffled

I'm dragged deeper and deeper

The sadness fills my lungs as I gasp for help

My family watch me as I cry, as I die

They laugh as I take the pills, they watch with sinister grins

Watching life be drained from my eyes

I believe there is lots of room for improvement, I just need to think harder, but I want you guys to tell me how I did and what should do to improve.
