Backing Up Your World
I've seen a lot of worries lately about losing world saves and concern about world corruption, so I wanted to make sure everyone knows that they can back up their worlds fairly easily[1] without needing to rely on third party app support.
Here's a quick run-down of how to back up your world saves, by platform. In all cases, you are looking for the com.mojang folder:
Windows 10 Desktop
Save File Location: C:\Users<your username>\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.MinecraftUWP_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\games
Instructions: On Windows 10, you have two options for backing up your world save.
-
Navigate to the above file path (note that the hash after MinecraftUWP_ may be different for you) to find the com.mojang folder.
-
Copy the com.mojang folder to wherever you want to hold on to backups.
-
To restore, simply navigate to the same place and replace the com.mojang folder with your backup.
-
Alternatively, you can use the new-in-0.14 in-game Import/Export functionality to store your world as an .mcworld file.
Android/Amazon
Save file location: Internal Storage/games
- Access your internal phone storage (either by plugging your phone into your computer via a micro-USB cable, or via the phone itself through a file explorer app)
- Navigate to the games folder, and copy the com.mojang folder to wherever you want to keep your backups.
- To restore from backup, simply navigate to the above location and replace the com.mojang folder with your backup.
iOS
- Plug your device into a computer and open iTunes.
- In iTunes, click on the device icon (upper left), then select Apps in the left column.
- Scroll down to the File Sharing section. Click on "Minecraft PE" under the Apps listing, then select the "games" folder on the right under "Minecraft PE Documents". Finally, click "Save to..." in the lower right, and save the games folder to your computer.
- Navigate to the games folder once you have saved it to your computer, and store it wherever you want to store your backups.
- To restore, connect your device to the computer and open iTunes. Navigate back to the device -> Apps options in iTunes, and scroll to the bottom again. Select the Minecraft PE app, then drag and drop the games folder from your computer into the Minecraft PE Documents list. Select "Replace" when prompted by iTunes. (NOTE: This will get rid of any worlds/save data on the device! If you want to save anything from the phone, save it to the computer as detailed above before continuing!)

Unfortunately, there is no good way to access the isolated storage of Windows phones.
