Solitary confinement

When your heads a vessel.
And your thoughts are nails.
Appreciating the irony.
Emotional pain doesn't cause you to wail.

Hours of consciousness.
Punctuated by sleep.
If hours in bed remained in memory.
The future wouldn't seem so bleak.

A dandelion seed.
Caught in torrential rain.
No end in sight.
Source less agony. Endless pain.

A thorn in my side.
The poison turning my blood blue.
She reaches out to prick me.
Even as I try running to pastures anew.

Compound this with physical hurt.
In the attempt to take my mind.
Away from lurking apathy.
Who's embrace would turn me blind.

Alas there is no succour.
Tearing flesh offers no respite.
Suffering hammering suffering.
Hastening my demise.

The death of a mind.
End to the heartbeat nowhere in sight.
The chaffing away of the soul.
No different from a terrifying blight.

Mere existence lies ahead.
Husk. Hollow shell.
Scoured of all thoughts and feelings.
All that's left is to sound the knell.

Dead man walking.
A zombie hiding in plain sight.
When convincing yourself to breathe.
Becomes a losing fight.
