"Huge Spinning UFO Inside Lightning Cloud Over L.A 19th July 2013" Always been intrigued with this one. What are your thoughts on it?

Over L.A and this is all we have? Is there more?
It's all I can find about this particular recording, unfortunately.
This is not an UFO. Its not a drone or helicopter, the uplifting air currents in the thunder clouds would cause any pilot a headache. I think its a case of ball lightning, when charged particles in the atmosphere get condensed and form a glowing floating orb. Plus it's happening during a storm, so you know that the potential for these natural phenomenons are already there in that moment in those clouds.
No way thats ball lightning, It lasts like 1-2 seconds. That video was minutes long
Ball lightning can be stable anywhere from 1-2 seconds to several minutes at the time
This gets my vote for the most plausible explanation, although I am still not 100% happy with it.
I didn't give much details because I'm not 100% familiar with the details about ball lightning formation, in fact no one is. Lightning in general is a natural phenomenon that needs further study.
Can't really discern anything, but I'm not surprised. UFODI does post hoaxes, much as they try to convince everybody that they don't.
UFODI does have obvious fakes. Enough that after randomly clicking through a few of their videos, I didn't want to explore their content any further. The sensationalizing enthusiast vibe is strong there, unfortunately :\ But I feel that this is one of their few legit shares. Thanks.
It's not consistent with any Helicopter, but maybe a drone. It would have to have a very powerful light source to light up so much from that distance. We also don't know if the there was loss of light from the "phone" I presume? The person who recorded it could provide more details on this, if it was even brighter in person. The relative distance to those trees would also help out.
Both the brightness of the object, and the fact that it's in them during a thunderstorm are the two biggest WTFs about this. I'm in a high air traffic area and I see large passenger planes, with their headlights on, all the time. I can guarantee you that even in the thinnest of cloud cover, their powerful headlights don't come anywhere close to this kind of illumination. For that reason, I have trouble seeing it as a typical drone.
It would have been useful if the person who made the recording provided more precise details about their location, though.
that's the thing with drones. some of these things light up the whole sky, how can typical drones with payloads measured in grams, and flight times measured in minutes be able to carry lights that outshine spot lights weighing 50lbs or more, with battery, ballast etc.
Can someone capture some stills and point it out to me. Feeling blind on this one.
It's just that bright thing in the center of the video. Difficult to discern much detail about the object in question, except near the beginning, and near the end...where the most we can tell is that it's a bright, orange-hued point of light. Don't drive yourself crazy with this one.
It might help to get on a computer if you're watching from a phone.
I think it may have been added into the storm footage...
Firstly, YouTube compression (and probably the scaling down to 360p too) have just wrecked any real details from appearing in the video. Being able to download the original, raw video would go a long way here. I certainly can't see anything "rotating" in the video at all, and I just don't see how that was included in the description of the sighting/video title...
Next up, I paid particular attention to the lightning strikes around 1:54, and 2:28...thank you YouTube for having the speed adjustment setting available...the lightning strikes at those times were particularly bright, illuminating most of the clouds in the video frame...with the exception of the area lit up in orange. Those part of the clouds showed no discernible increase in illumination during the lightining strikes, and one would expect an increase consistent with the surrounding clouds.
You make a good point about the UFO cloud seemingly not being consistent with the illumination of lightning-lit clouds behind it, but I don't believe that's immediate evidence as the video being faked. And believe me, I'm not trying to hang onto this as being undeniable evidence of anything other than what we see: an extremely bright object, incredibly close to, if not IN, lightning clouds.
Even one of the frames at 2:28 where a flash creates a purple hue, to the right and off-frame, seems to provide some light to the object's cloud cover. Same for a frame at 3:13. That YouTube speed adjustment is definitely useful.
That said, I do like your thoughts on this and would be willing to further explore the idea of this being a composite video; but between the narrative of the recorder, and the fact that she does follow the object while noting the lightning, makes this more believable for me. Personally, I don't see it as a question of whether or not this is "legit" footage; rather, I just wanna know what the heck it is she recorded that night. I'm totally open to the idea of it being man-made.
It is a very intriguing sighting, for which I have no explanation.
Very rare to see a positive comment like this.
