The paths we take

Feedback Received!

We're always told about the paths we take
Almost like they depend on the choices we make,
stepping on the gas, slamming on the brake,
got into some trouble that left you quake.
But life goes on.

You continue to venture the concrete walkway.
Followed up by intersections that left you astray.
Should I take this office job? What about the subway?
Maybe I can be a fisherman on the Hudson bay.
I'll just figure it out next dawn.

You're all grown now,
farming, getting ready to sow.
Working day to night, wiping sweat from your brow.
You feel something inside you, it makes you frown.
Isn't this the life in which you were drawn?

Now you're old and weak,
hardly able to walk or speak.
Your muscles ache, bones creak.
You've grown to nothing but an antique.
Your decision making years are forgone.

Now what do you think about the paths you travel?
Have you ever thought to walk off the gravel?
It could be worth it, or a much bigger hassle.
I'd say take the decision, you may find yourself a castle.
Just make the choice, before you're too far gone
