We came here from Texas for spring break and to celebrate my mother's 55th birthday. How can I make her day special?

I'm sorry if this isn't the best place for this-- I am here with her and a cousin, with a flexible schedule, save for an appointment to whale-watch (knocking that off of her bucket list!) the day of.

She's the most incredible and amazing woman I know, and I was hoping the fine people of this sub might have some suggestions to make her big day memorable.

Edit: thanks everyone! This is all really helpful and I'm going to tell her Reddit helped, haha!

Haha "fine" people of this sub... You can't miss Pike Market, check out vendors, grab lunch from any of the many choices available. IF you like sandwiches and/or pasta I recommend Michou corner of Pike & Stewart. Also check out Steinbrueck park on the north side of the market, it's a bit breezy today and especially tomorrow but still has nice views. If donuts sound appealing, checkout Top Pot on 5th & Blanchard. If you or her like art, the Seattle Art Museum is always worth a visit. Enjoy nature? any of Seattle's parks are worth a visit, Discovery has a great beach and quaint lighthouse.

My mother is utterly psyched about the market, but we didn't know where to eat there specifically. Thanks for this!

There's a French place that is upstairs near the fish throwers (can't remember the name atm) and really good for appetizers and the view.

Radiator Whiskey is fun. Book a table online.

Kells on Post Alley is amazing.

The Athenian in the market has a fantastic view and so does Lowell's, which is right next door.

Take a walk-on ferry ride across the sound to Bainbridge Island and get some ice cream at Mora. It's ~$8 round trip.

All my out of town guests love having lunch (much cheaper than dinner) at the Space Needle. You rotate around an unobstructed view; you can also visit the observation deck. Make a reservation a head of time. I actually think the food is quite good!

The Space needle. 2 star food at 5 star prices.

Take her out for dinner at Canlis.

Canlis will be booked, try Rays Boathouse.

No, it's not cutting edge, but it is the quintessential northwest dining experience.

We have a bunch of resources for you on the r/Seattle/wiki....

Love the passive-aggressive ellipses

Why is using an ellipsis passive-aggressive?

-4
NoSoulNolandBelltown•

The ellipses implies a breath or a beat where you're silently judging them for not using it without actually saying it. Without it you have a genuine comment trying to give help

I'm only using one ellipsis - not multiple ellipses.

The implication you've outlined is entirely in your head - I am not intending any of the meaning you've assigned to it.

That being said, perhaps I'll update my macro for telling newcomers about the wiki.
