How to lane vs Azir?

Azir

So i went up against azir a couple of times in the past days and i have no idea how to lane against him. I have a really hard time not getting shoved in and then poked down under my tower without him taking any return dmg. I can play lux, annie, kayle and veigar. With every1 but lux i get outright destroyed coz he outranges me and needs very little mana. With lux i can farm safe at the start but as soon as he hits his first item he shoves the wave so fast i cant hold him without him making 3 attacks on me procing thunderlords and outtrading me.

so my question is: how do i deal with azir in the lanephase? And are there any countermatchups i could try to learn. I have all champions.

and im low plat elo btw.

Edit: First of all thx for all the suggestions. if any azir mains would be willing to train vs me i would be very gratefull. Im on euw and my ign is Le Fönk. Im wil be online the next days from afternoon till in the night cet.

If Azir is shoving that much he should draw jungle attention. And if you are playing a short range mage just accept that you will have to miss some cs and just farm with spells if it really gets that bad. As far as counters I like Viktor into him as you have better wave clear and range the entire game and your damage late is still really great.

hm ok so i should accept that i loose lane unless my jungler shows up? my problem is that even with long range mages like lux he can outshove me until i can oneshot the wave with e because i need to aa the minions while he can use soldiers to shove. but ill try vik, thx :)

Viktor isn't counter for Azir.Especially now.Azir's range+Rylai=Hard times for Viktor.

I'd say it's a very balanced matchup that snowballs hard

You should never be in Azir's range though. And Azir won't get Rylai's until his second item. And by that time you should be able to blow the wave away without him being able to do anything.

Lux does pretty well vs azir, you can shield his Q while getting in position to trade back. The key thing is to show you're willing to trade back if possible.

hm i have huge problems because he gets thunderlords proc so fast and if he stands in his minions i get agro if i go for e auto and cant hit q.

so basicly my only chance is if he overstepps and i can hit a q then hes fucked but it just feels like i cant push as fast as him because if i use e once he has lower cd and mana cost on his soldiers and can poke the minions first and if i come dash his soldiers onto me and trade.

I can't remember the last time I faced a decent lux but try it out : he q's you, you shield and move agressively towards him, if you get an E auto off you will proc TLD and you might win the trade.

If not you can always farm up nicely.

If you play a normal vs azir with a champion you want to become good with, play more agressively than you normally do : you want to find out the limits of your champion :)

Could try other long range mages like syndra or vel'koz. Or maybe someone who could make him run like Diana. He zones well and you have to break his mindset that he can safely or easily zone you.

When playing against Azir I generally gravitate towards a higher mobility champion, or a long range champion. Ahri has the mobility at 6 to avoid all of his damage zones while providing the cc and burst to out play him.

That being said, I've also had luck playing Xerath into Azir and being able to force him out of lane consistently, in turn building a significant cs lead.
