Best flipper for $70?

I am looking at the Kershaw junkyard dog on kershawguy.com and the Kizer Vanguard series. I value really good flips and design with a steel that is better than base models. Anyone have experience with both or other experience with recommendations? Plz my current favorite is the Sea Eagle, but I would love a taller blade with more belly.

The best flippers for the money are Kizers, hands down. It's slightly above your price range, but the Vanguard Gemini is excellent.

All of Kershaw's flippers are either assisted, or poor flippers.

How is the detent? I had one Real Steel flipper that was perfect almost except for the detent was weak.

Kizer runs their detents a hair soft, but within my preferred range for the most part.

I will probably save a bit more and go with the Roach. I was just wondering if there was something I hadn't heard of that was noteworthy.

People who like to wait? What exactly are you talking about? I wait for shipping, but that's about it.

If anybody says skyline, ignore them. It is an /okay/ flipper. Good value over all, but not the BEST under 70

If you like kershaw and don't mind assisted knives, the knockout is also a great option. The aluminum handles turned me off at first because I thought they would be slick, but the handle shape provides great grip via good ergonomics. Kershaw link is also a decent choice though I think you might be turned off by the 420hc steel. Its not as good as sandvik but I've found it to still be quite decent. I feel that it's action is slightly better then the knockout's though the knockout is still my overall favorite because of it's ergonomics.

I recently handled a knockout and I was impressed with everything I just wish it was a manual flipper the speed safe his b******* I hate it

You can deassist them pretty easily.

Unfortunately you can't de assist the knockout. It has a detent ball in the lock bar but no hole in the blade.

Didn't realize that, that sucks.

Why do they even bother then

Yeah I would have preferred it as a manual action, especially since the pivot is so smooth with mine, but for me the overall package is great enough that I don't mind.

I've heard that's true for many speed assist knives but I'm just kind of over Kershaw they pretend that they are American made but they f*** all their designs up by going for the main Market instead of catering to their die hard fans, I think the shuffle will be the only Kershaw I ever own. Sorry for the run-on sentence this is voice commenting.

Citation, please?

They're targeting the $15-35 price point with their Chinese models and about $30-80 with their US models. Knives in those price ranges target a mainstream audience. They have to when they're offering fairly premium materials given the price point, as economy of scale is the only way they can make a profit.

All of the actual kershaw usa knives I've had have been excellent (knockout, blur, link, leak). Nothing hokey about them. I wasn't too impressed by the one chinese kershaw I had though.

I've been a bit lukewarm about their last catalog though. Some rather gimmicky designs, and the ones that I do like are made from subpar materials. I was hoping for more mid end models like the knockout and blur but was let down.
