[1,067] The Davidovich Family Plan

I wrote a novel recently (literary fiction) and now that I am looking to turn that first draft into something a little more polished, I've been struggling with the first chapter. This is one of my recent rewrites.

Because it is meant to be the beginning of a novel, the most important thing is whether it makes you want to read on so I definitely want to know that.

I'd also like to know what you thought of the voice (the use of foreign words especially) and whether you understood what's happening as I am concerned it may be a bit confusing.

And of course anything else you think is worth mentioning, I would be glad to hear.
