Forget Me Not

Are you
Or are you not?

Untainted gold, my Midas,
Do you touch all that is.

I picture a flickering fire,
The colour of Princeton,
Like the tresses of my hair
At two in the morning.

And your luscious Stygian locks,
A comfortable dark cover
Or a raven shroud –
My fingers entangled. Maybe.

Measure my defence
By the rivers in your eyes;
Golden light spilling
Across the horizon of your beach.

Somewhere between
What we say and what we mean,
Are we or are we not?
Forget me, forget me not.
