Of Lovers (rough draft, feedback very welcome)
First among them, you seemed trustworthy at first
But you were thin, gaunt- in body and mind.
Young, selfish, cluelessly cruel...
"Remember me with fondess", you said-
I barely remember you at all.
There came a time I needed to know what it was to be fucked
And you, the second, your body taught mine.
Easy, sure, accidentally attractive...
It really didn't matter what you said-
We weren't there for the conversation.
And finally there's you, the third, my last, my only.
You took me home, said, "no pressure" and meant it;
Still we fucked like breathing to a drowning man.
Strong, kind, deceptively deep...
You said, "I think we should make a go of this"-
And this life became ours.
