[R/F] Hieratic Lightsworn Chaos Dragons of the Burning Abyss ft. Caius

This deck focuses on setting up the grave quickly using the BA and Lightsworn engines and then deleting your opponents board with powerful banishing effects. Despite the mish mash of different engines, it all works together very well. It interrupts your opponent's turn by using Beatrice's effect dumping Farfa to banish their monster for the turn. Notably, the only thing this deck struggles the most with are floodgates and Kozmo with their non-targetability and ability to be retrieved easily from banished. Floating effects are a non issue, since so many things in this deck straight up send things to the shadow realm.

Main Deck (40):

Monsters (37):

Chaos
Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning
3x Chaos Sorcerer

  • Two powerful banish effects. BLS can also attack over weaker things and deal huge damage.

3x Lightpulsar Dragon

  • Most of the time you will want to summon this from grave by dumping a dark and a light from hand. Dumping a dark isn't really a cost, since you'll probably just drop a BA monster and its effect will go off, and you plus anyways. Great rank 6 xyz fodder and can be summoned many times in a game. 2500 atk isn't terrible either. When it's destroyed, you can revive REDMD, but this can miss timing, especially with all the other BA effects going off all the time. A minor setback.

Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon
Dark Armed Dragon

  • This deck runs a lot of dragons, so REDMD is almost certainly an auto-include. REDMD can also be summoned off of Lightpulsar's effect. DAD is very good if picked up early, and you have solid control over the number of darks in grave with all the chaos summoning conditions. At worst, you can just dump him to revive Lightpulsar.

Eclipse Wyvern

  • Searches REDMD or DAD

Hieratic

3x Hieratic Dragon of Tefnuit

  • This deck almost always wants to go second, so this card's special summon condition is usually live. Tributing this allows you to instantly set up a rank 6 play (usually Beatrice). As a bonus, if you summon Caius, you also get to banish a card on the way.

Wattaildragon

  • Light Normal Dragon for Tefnuit's effect. The deck is mostly DARK, so we choose LIGHT dragon to keep our chaos effects more consistent.

Burning Abyss 3x Scarm, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss
2x Cir, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss
Graff, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss
Tour Guide of the Underworld

  • Standard Burning Abyss core

3x Farfa, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss
Alich, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss

  • These are the cards we dump with Beatrice's effect to disrupt our opponent's turn. Note that these will only stop ignition effects if you pre-emptively dump in response to the summon. If you respond to the activation with Beatrice's effect, Farfa/Alich effect will not activate until the next chain.

Lightsworn
3x Lumina, Lightsworn Summoner
Minerva, Lightsworn Maiden
Raiden, Hand of the Lightsworn
Lyla, Lightsworn Sorceress

  • A smaller Lightsworn engine as an alternate means of milling. Lumina sets up rank 3 or lv 6/7 synchro plays. Lyla is a searchable spell/trap removal.

Other monsters
3x Caius, the Shadow Monarch

  • There is so much tribute fodder in this deck. You can activate any of the BA monsters effects to set up a tribute for this guy. As mentioned earlier, tributing Tefnuit sets up a rank 6 play, all while banishing away more of your opponents cards.

2x Effect Veiler

  • We run 0 traps in this deck, and this is some more disruption.

Electromagnetic Turtle

  • OTK stopper, can be dumped straight to grave using Beatrice's effect. Once per duel only, so we run only 1 copy.

Spells (3):

2x Charge of the Light Brigade

  • Searches our Lightsworn monsters while also milling 3. Really wish the Banlist had pushed this to 3.

Allure of Darkness

  • Could probably run an extra copy of this, but it's not ideal to be banishing too many of the BA cards. I'm considering maybe cutting Alich, Lyla, or DAD to fit in an extra copy of Allure.

Extra Deck (15):

3x Dante, Traveler of the Burning Abyss
2x Beatrice, Lady of the Eternal
Dante, Pilgrim of the Burning Abyss

  • The whole Burning Abyss Extra Deck suite. I chose to include just 2 Beatrice, because after using up 2 Beatrice, you just have nothing left in the deck worth dumping for her effect anymore. Make sure if Beatrice gets destroyed, and you haven't yet activated a Farfa's effect that turn, to try to add one to hand with XYZ Dante's effect as fuel for Fusion Dante's effect for further disruption.

Constellar Ptolemy M7

  • Even more non-destruction removal, especially potent against extra deck monsters. Alternatively, we can retrieve powerful bosses like BLS from our own grave.

Downerd Magician

  • Alternate rank up path for Dantes when you don't have a BA monster accessible in hand to pay the cost to summon Beatrice. It's stronger than Dante's measly 1k atk at least.

Photon Strike Bounzer

  • Late game monster effect negation. I usually will only bring this out once I've exhausted all the Farfa/Alich from my deck. But this doesn't require any resources from deck to be able to negate.

Super Quantal Mech Beast Grampulse

  • Easily accessible spell/trap removal. Also has beefy 2800 def to wall if needed.

Leviair the Sea Dragon

  • Retrieves our banished low level monsters.

Michael, the Arch-Lightsworn

  • More banishing. This can even be targeted at spells and traps. It can also mills and can refill your deck in a pinch.

Black Rose Dragon

  • Poor man's Judgment Dragon. We don't run enough Lightsworn names to summon JD, so this is the next best thing. Clears the board for OTK setups, possibly triggering a lot of BA effects along the way.

Ancient Sacred Wyvern

  • Potentially huge amount of ATK. Big piece of many OTK combos.

Blackwing - Nothung the Starlight

  • 800 LP burn to steal games. Its effect is also non-targeting and can reduce something like Kozmo Dark Destroyer's atk to a point where we can attack over it.

With some of the most powerful pendulum decks being hit by the banlist, it is now unlikely to run into an unbreakable board on the first turn. Of course, if a Monarch player Domain first turn locks you out of the extra deck, and you draw only BA cards, it feels bad. But, at least we have the Lightsworns to set up mills and go for a Chaos boss monster as an alternative, and the Tefnuit Caius combo also can push against that board. This deck matches up reasonably well against anything that doesn't have targeting immunity. It can pretty much infinitely churn out 2500atk beaters (Lightpulsar Dragon) and can push for OTK's very easily by just banishing monsters away.
