Social Security Number Issues
OK, first I'm 17 & I'm currently in Navy DEP. My job will require a security clearance. So, I did some background checks on my ssn & come to find out I have a huge credit file. On the report, I have like 20 different address all across the country, and about 25 lines of credit, going back over 5 yrs. Now some background, my biological father is a pretty shady-guy who I haven't seen or talked in 10 yrs other than to ask via Facebook for my recruiter to contact him to have him sign my enlistment/DEP paperwork. I don't even have an address for him. My mom & I are pretty sure he is involved in this somehow. We've filed a police report in the town that we live, we've started to call all the creditors listed and had freezes put on everything. So, obviously I didn't do this as I am only 17, & the soc sec admin said I may qualify for a new SSN. So, if I get a new SSN # how will that affect my enlistment? Will I have to do everything over again or will they just be able to update all my forms... This s*x, I'm just really bummed out now cuz of this! Haven't told my recruiter yet, as I'm not sure how to explain all this to him & he's already done a lot of extra work for medical waiver to get me in.
