Trinity Summer Intern- Where to live??

I'm taking a research internship at trinity college this summer and looking around for accommodation at the moment, having never been to Ireland are there any areas of Dublin I should definitely avoid? or any particularly studenty areas with a good atmosphere? im kind of torn between living with a family for 3 months on the outskirts (safe/cheaper option) and possibly missing out on the fun of Dublin or finding a student apartment share in the city, any advice ?
