Advice please
So I've been clinically diagnosed with MDD back in January, but I've noticed problems for the past 3 years. They all started to happen in my first semester of college. I was just put on an antidepressant, anti anxiety, and sleep aid today to accompany my adhd med. I am having a rough time in school. I am legitimately failing 1 of my classes, but I'm not doing well in any of my classes really. I attend a pretty well regarded university, and I am in a no bs program (chemistry major and physics minor). I was advised by my psychiatrist today that it may be in my best interest to take a medical withdrawal for the semester. The way my university works this means I also would most likely have to take the fall semester off. I have goals of going to medical school, and as such, I hold myself to a very high academic standard. I don't know if I want to go the route of withdrawal because of later graduation, losing my money for this semester, and I wouldn't be able to go on the study abroad that I am scheduled to attend this summer. I just don't know what I should do. Much if not most of my depression and anxiety stems from my underperformance in school, but I just don't know how to do better. I spend hours upon hours working on my course load, but I don't see any results. I honestly am trending in the wrong direction even with more effort being put in. I talk to my professors, and they say just spend more time on the given classes, but it doesn't work. I don't know what I can do to make myself feel better or how I can perform better. Really I just want some thoughts as to what I should do moving forward because I haven't got a clue. I appreciate any thoughts. Thank you in advance for reading my disorganized stream of thought. I really appreciate any incite you all have.
