I have no cash for anything
I'm so broke.
I have so many expenses coming my way but nowhere near enough money coming in. I work a base-plus job which by my title is supposed to be bringing in the dough but commissions just haven't been adding up for me, and the "base" that we get is a joke - after tax base is 1500 a month. The last six weeks I've been lining up great lucrative opportunities that every single one has been a no-show. It's not that I'm not putting in the work, it's that customers are assholes that commit and don't come in to the bank to get my decade's worth of expertise with their money.
I live in NYC and my rent for me + my dog is 2600. My dog is old and his monthly medications went from 80/month to 160/month. His dogwalker just increased his rate another 60/month to a total of about 260/month. Along with his food and other healthful things, I'm spending about an extra 100/month on him, for a total of over 500/month just on him. The vet asked for a urine sample for him, and I had to drop almost 70 for that. Part of me wonders if he did that for the cash, but I'm going to try to trust that he has the old mandog's best interest at heart.
I have my own medical issues going on. They're nothing super serious, but for two months I've been dealing negatively with histamines, meaning my body is reacting in rash & hives to certain foods we eat. I've already been to three doctors and the third is recommending a special test where they run your blood against almost 200 different types of foods and basically give you a "don't eat this or you'll break out in itchy ugliness" list. It's not covered by insurance. 200 bucks. It's not an absolute requirement that I get it, but I need to know what my body is reacting to. It's not allergies, but it's very uncomfortable and not pretty.
My taxes aren't done yet, even though I've met with the guy two months ago to get it started. He wants to meet after work tomorrow night (the 15th!) so I can sign the papers. Cutting a little close, aren't we dude? I don't even have the money to pay him, he knows that his cut is going to be out of what he gets me back (I know I'm getting money back).
I have a big, planned out trip coming up in a month. Luckily I've saved up enough for that, but now I need to justify to myself that it's fine for me to go on a trip when I can't even make my rent comfortably. And it feels like those expenses just keep adding up. My parents are generous enough to pay for the airline tickets, but I'm covering everything else. 1400 for the hotels and sight-seeing, 80 each way to get to the airport. 400 for the other hotel we're staying at for the wedding. 300-500 to board the dog. Cash on hand for tipping & incidentals. I can ask friends for rides to the airport, so I should be able to save there. And I have the dogwalker offering to lend his services to watch the pupster sporadically while I'm gone, and a friend another patch, but considering I'm gone for 12 days, I feel so useless in case something goes wrong when I'm on the other side of the globe.
I'm doing what I can to save where I can - bringing my own coffee and lunch from home, selling random things in my house, cooking as much good food from home as I can, not really going out, doing my own nails, not buying anything new. But now my cousins want to have a girl's night out, and I volunteered to host since I have so much food in the house. They want to go to a restaurant. Now I have to throw out another 50 or so for that... I hate that I'm trying to come up with plausible excuses to just bail and sit in my house in front of the TV.
I'm trying to come up with little bits of cash here and there, but with each expense being a multiple of 100 and each piece of additional income being a multiple of 20, I can't catch up fast enough.
PS This is a non-judgment needed post. I know I should be using my money towards other much-needed expenses instead of this trip, please don't contribute that as advice. That's simply NOT an option.
