[Gear] - NGD - Gibson SG 70's Tribute with Bigsby
My new guitar, I had my eye on these ever since they were released. I was seriously thinking about buying the sunburst model new from MF or sweetwater et al. But then I made the mistake of browsing Reverb. And I got, what I think is, a great deal on this bad boy with a Bigsby installed. I was worried about the neck. I played one of the Les Paul tribute's at GC, and I didn't like it at all. Too thick. Like way too thick. The 70's tribute is thick, but it feels better than the LP I think. I really like the appointments on this model. It's not quite a "Faded" model, it has a gloss, but it's a thin gloss. I really like the cream pickguard on black. It plays wonderfully. The mini humbuckers are not bright, but I'm coming from playing single coils and p-90s so YMMV. Anyhow, thought I'd share. I really think this guitar is a bargain if you're looking for an SG. BTW, I was a longtime player of an SG Standard, and I note the differences. This guitar gets most of the SG mojo right and it's about 1/2 the cost. Again YMMV.
