Display problem after power loss

Last night my pc lost power after the power cord was accidentally removed. Upon reboot the monitor did not recognize any display. Today I replaced the video card and rewired the power to the video card. I was wonder what solution is there aside from throwing more new parts at my machine. I am thinking that it has to do with the motherboard, but I don't want to get a new one until I can get more information. From what I could tell the number one issue would be the card, at this point I'm lost and I'm in need of help.
