Does anyone else find Mettadon to be one of the scarier characters in game?

I'm not joking; I mean he's kind of a sociopath. He's openly witty and charming, but treats his subordinates like crap as we learn from Burgerpants (this is a notable indicator of sociopathical behavior).

Through the whole game he shows very little empathy to others, he's willing to ditch both Napstablook and Alphys in pursuit of his own self centered gains, he'll threaten and injure you and never shows any remorse, more than anything else he's irritated at how he's losing popularity, and when fighting you he'll openly admit that he has no issue with murder in order to become a star. At least Undyne and Asgore were trying to kill you it was for the greater good of monsters. And if you respond that he was trying to protect humanity, it's more that he views humanity as the means through which he's finally going to become famous, it's not really about protecting anyone. And most unsettlingly it's mentioned in a neutral ending how if he becomes king people who disagree with him disappear. While I don't think he'd kill people over this, I can see his forcibly exiling people from the city for badmouthing him big brother style.
