How long past best before is safe?

I have more joylent than I'm going to use before it hits the Best Before date next month - just wondering how long I can expect to keep a sealed pack before it goes bad. Is the Best Before date just there because it gets less nutritious after that date?

It's the regular joylent, not vegan.
