[EVENT] The New President of Cuba promises Social & Economic Liberties

Event

Miguel Diaz-Canel has died in office aged 72 from old age. Even Cuba's miraculous health system could not have saved him. The new president of Cuba has been chosen from officials within the Communist Party. Francisco Martinez has been chosen as the next President.

The Marxist Leninist, President Martinez promises to liberalise society by freeing economic strangleholds on the country and increase the welfare of the citizens further. His election, and him being only 39 years old, represents the complete end of the "Old Guard" of Cuban politics, saying:

With Cuba united and the American threat to the independence of Cuba eliminated, perhaps now is the time for social and economic liberties to be raised. No longer must we hold onto Cold War tendencies and super militarisation. Cuba is one of the greatest nations on Earth and we can make her even greater.

The following measures are to be passed over the next few months, essentially turning Cuba into a civil rights love fest:

  • The legalisation of gay marriage. Fundamentally there is issue with a socialist state limiting something as private as family of any two individuals.
  • The privatisation of medium-big businesses. The new President holds the belief that only the commanding heights of the economy ought to be nationalised as well as any industry vital the nation. So, essentially, any corporation thats not related to: banking, security, mining, mineral processing, oil, military, energy, communications, aviation, and other heavy industry. Private ownership shall be allowed elsewhere and any government assets shall be auctioned off to Cubans for low prices.
  • The commitment to free healthcare from cradle to grave for everyone.
  • The government will not spy on her citizens at all and any data on innocent residents of Cuba will be destroyed.
  • Freedom of Speech will be welcomed and censorship abolished.
  • General Election will be promised for 2038.

The new President also promised to raise a new generation of Che Guevara's to fight good fights abroad, so maybe he's a bit loony.
