Discussion [No Spoilers] Population of the Ark

SPOILERS S3

How do 12 space stations end up being so many people on the ark within 97 years?

By my research there were roughly 400 people on the ark when it united and 2500 people at the beginning of the series. Acknowledging the 1 kid rule might not have always been in effect, and also acknowledging they knew that resources were limited from the start, how did they grow so drastically.

Assuming 25 being the average age to have a kid, that's 4 generations (fair to say because 4 generations is mentioned in the show). Assuming perfectly even split off make female. Assuming the one kid rule was always in effect, the final population over 97 years would be around 125

Year 1 population - 400 (All deceased at year 97) Year 25 population - 600 (all deceased at year 97) Year 50 population - 700 Year 75 population - 350 (50 born and 400 die) Year 97 population - 125 (25 born and 200 die)

What do you think? I hope you all understand what I'm thinking. I hope I made this clear
