Rendering held object to Camera?

Solved

Hellooo,

I'm using the first person controller (unity standard asset) and was wondering what's the best way to approach holding objects.

At first i made the picked up object become a child of the camera (it'll always appear a unit or 2 in front of the player) but that caused wall collision issues where clipping between the object and walls would occur. But now i'm thinking of making another camera and make it a child of the original camera. This new camera would render the held object and thus the collision problem should be solved.

I'm not too sure how to approach the latter solution as i believe i would have to of course make another camera and child it to the existing camera, play around with layers and maybe turn off its flags?

Really hope to get some guidance, especially with people who know how to approach this.

Thank you for the read and any response will be appreciated.

Cheers,

Edit: Clarification of solution #1

Update: Just figured out a possible solution. Make another camera and make sure it only renders the layer the object is on :)
