Why not improve the transmog system?

I noticed that the transmog system is WoW is bit limited. My past experience with similars systems was in SWTOR. Its called "outfit system". You use a gear and you have a separate set that its what it will be displayed in your character model. Its just like WoW transmog but with a good difference.

WoW transmog limits people to change appearance from a plate armor to one of the same kind (plate). so everything must obey an order

cloth -> cloth

leather -> leather

mail -> mail

plate -> plate

This however limits people to what they want their characters to look like. Which I don't see the point. Why can't a warrior want to look like an assassin? or a traveller wearing leather jacket?

By removing the same armor type limitation, we would have an even greater possibility to make amazing armor sets combinations like never before. Plus it would give people the freedom to make their characters looks the way they want them to look, regardless of class. (it would be amazing specially for the RP community)

In SWTOR thats how the system works. I use a tank, which uses heavy armor but my outfit system is not bound to heavy armor I still use a medium armor as my transmog. It looks great. I like it. It doesn't affect how people see me. They can see my class just by clicking on my name.

This also doesn't mean there can't be class specific transmog. There are armor sets that can't be part of an outfit if the class doesn't match. So doesn't matter if its light/medium/heavy armor as long as there is no class requirement for that piece.

One thing WoW transmog system got right tho was the lack of restriction in weapon

I can transmog any two-handed weapon to another, regardless if its a sword or an axe. Thats was something good and its exactly they should have done with the armors. I don't get it why they limited the transmogs to armor types. It feels like the way your character looks its directly caged to the class you choose.

The head piece is cloth

The hands is cloth.

And the shoulders shouldn't be plate because I have seen a better shoulder model to use, but it was a leather one, so I was forced to use this plate shoulder transmog.
