[Spoilers] My Greatest Invasion Experience Already [Spoilers]
I've played Dark Souls 1, 2, and now 3, and this has to be by far the best invasion I've ever had.
It all begins at the Water Reserve bonfire within the Boreal Valley, I summon a Sunbro to engage in jolly cooperation in order to not only pillage this area of it's loot, but also hopefully encounter and destroy the local boss which I haven't discovered exactly who it is yet.
Before we can begin our journey however, we are promptly invaded by a red phantom. No issue of course, it's a 2v1, we can handle this. Feeling confident we slowly ascend the local mile long ladder up to the surface, in the middle of our task, another invasion happens, this time, of the Aldrich Faithful.
Not too bad, it'll be a fair fight, my fighting skills aren't too bad as long as I'm not overwhelmed by players, NPCs I'm alright. But players exhibit very volatile decisions that can't be predicted very well.
We press on and climb the rooftops, and, upon reaching the first couple of knights, my Sunbro is completely annihilated by the two very aggressive knights.
Fuck. How am I supposed to finish this level now? I didn't want to relinquish my souls and then have to go back and find them.
During my panicked state, I remembered I had a very important item within my possession which could possibly turn the tide of battle, the Seed of a Giant Tree.
I pop that baby and almost immediately the phantoms are upon me, I expected this to be exactly my luck and rolled forward away from the two invaders. I run for the brick hills by descending further into the building.
Wandering, sprinting, rolling around I came to the conclusion that katanas are still FUCKING BULLSHIT AND HIT LIKE BOWS I could potentially make this a very efficient death, and pick up everything I possibly could.
I find my way to some sort of giant altar that I haven't exactly determined the purpose of yet, but I start my adventure there, picking up the item off the ground I rush forward, rolling backwards immediately to avoid the oncoming blows. I chug some estus and head back through the desolate hallways, picking up a set of Brass Armor along the way.
My glorious glass cannon build of wearing rags combined with a Zweihander enable me to run faster than these obese hot pocket stuffers in their fat armor. I'm ashamed to say I got lost and was cornered at the elevator, but I had a stroke of luck, and the skilless piece of dogshit katana users red phantom hit his weapon against the wall and missed me entirely.
I then found my way out again and booked it, chugging the last of my estus putting me at a hardy 80% hp, roughly 900. I dodged their greatarrows and made it to the shortcut, descending the ladder I narrowly dodged a plunge attack, and swiftly opened the gate.
My journey would soon come to an end, I hoped, as I was near a bonfire and could safely lose my souls.
No, I can salvage this, with another phantom! I experienced salvation as I attempted to summon sign after sign, finally getting a response from a PurPal nonetheless! This wonderful soul decided to dedicate his time in my world to saving my life, and through sheer skill, we defeated both invaders.
Our time was at an end, and I knew this PurPal needed something from me. I couldn't just give him my life, no, he was too honorable for that.
Outside the fog gate, we dueled. I landed a hard blow with my legendary two handed blade. He countered with quick, moderately powerful attacks.
I found a chink in his armor, however, and determined this poor chap had barely any stamina to begin with. I baited his attacks, and then hit against his shield, dazing him.
Reluctantly, I finished him off. The friend I just made, stricken down in an honor bound battle of destiny.
This is a wonderful game, and I applaud all of those within it, reds, purples, oranges and some sort of mixture between blue and maroon.
If you're out there Mr. PurPal, thank you.
