Hammer Time (tips on using the motorcycle)

The motorcycle has pretty much been a disappointment to most people I'd say, but it is actually still viable to use on a Helldive, but you really have to gear your loadout (and the team's loadouts around it). You have to commit a good portion of your resources to using it, if you don't you may wind up losing your motorcycles and just having a hard time in general. But here are some strategies I find work very well with the motorcycle.

  1. Rep-80 - The motorcycle is very fragile. So bringing a rep-80 is a must. Without it, its very likely your motorcycle won't make it through the whole mission. With a rep-80 though and using these strats, if I had a motorcycle last me from start to finish on a Helldive. That said though....

  2. If you can....bring spare motorcycles. Having at least one to two spares is a good idea, because as you all know, in Helldivers shit happens :)

  3. Stun Mines - The big problem most people face when using motorcycles and I think why most hate them is when they park the motorcycles to do an objective, they get destroyed by the end of the objective. The way to prevent this though is simple, use stun mines. Blanket the motorcycles in stun mines and the enemy won't be able to touch them. You'll be able to complete the objective and ride off to the next objective. Stun mines is a good strategy in general to use when using mechs or vehicles, because they don't harm them at all and they last much longer than a stasis field and prevent all enemy action.

  4. Heavy Armor + Angel (alternatively Guard Dog + Auto Injector) - Why you ask? Because another flaw of the motorcycle is that it can be very punishing getting off of. With Heavy Armor and Angel you can get off it even while its moving at top speed. And at times without even suffering an injury. Bots are also powerful with the motorcycle, because the motorcycle acts as a docking port for the bot. Giving you an instant charge to your Angel or Guard Dog everytime you get on your bike.

And that's it really, its that simple. With ample stun mines you may not even need your spares. In fact for myself I don't worry too much about the spare. But with a full team its a good idea if everyone has one. That gives you 2 spares and that should be enough. Try not to step on your own stun mines. Stun Grenades is also a good perk to use since it can be a good last ditch save to prevent the enemy from attacking your motorcycles. Think of them as horses and keep them well guarded and close to your position (without being in the way) while you do the objective. Try to do awkward objectives before calling in the motorcycles. Things like survivors, briefcases, trains maybe, stuff like that. Do those, call in the motorcycles. If you have alot of awkward objectives, then you might want to reconsider taking motorcycles into that mission.

Honorable mentions go to smoke grenades and distractor beacon.

I don't care for distractor beacons, but obviously it will work if that's the way you like to play. I'd rather engage the enemy though personally. Which believe it or not you can actually do with the motorcycle, as long as your prepared for it.

Smoke grenades in theory should work, although I haven't really had the best success with them. Their effect is so short, I prefer stun mines. But I could see smoke grenades having synergy with the motorcycle, so I feel they deserve a quick mention for anyone wanting to go that route.
