A question about our former National Chief Alex Call

I meet Alex Call multiple times, during NLS, backstage at the NOAC shows, and when he came to our conclave and there was one thing that just seemed really odd about him. He was legitimately terrified of balloons, like he freaked out about it multiple times. Did anyone else notice this about him and get an explanation on why? It just seems like a really obscure thing for someone of his age and position to be afraid of.
