New Miata Owner Misadventures

Hello r/miata!

Picked up my first miata on Saturday. '96 NA 1.8l blue with a cut up rag top and a plastic rear window you couldn't see through Heimdall himself couldn't see through.

Today was due for fun:

  1. Smog, yay California, I discovered that it has obd2 hidden up near the gas pedal.
  2. New (used tires). The original Shocks /Springs have left the worst cupping & feathering I've ever seen on the front tires. I'll put new tires on once I replace suspension, for now $60 for replacements and full balancing.
  3. Insurance, easy enough.
  4. Trip to Dmv hell. 3 hours of line to register and get a license plate for the front.. During the wait, unbeknownst to me, I'd left running lights on and killed the battery. Hey. It turns out the battery is held in the trunk, lol that took far too long for me to find.. Nobody at dmv had cables, but my new acquaintance taught me how to push start the miata. Woot lightweight manual transmission.

I love this car, I had a great day, I wouldn't change a thing.
