Need help with base/stand free setup ideas
I have a really nice spot where I'd like to add a fish tank to my home but need some suggestions on how to make the entire setup work. I know most tanks use the stand below them to hide pumps and filtration but the location for this tank would preclude the use of a stand.
I am looking for suggestions for setting up a freshwater 55 Gal tank in this location: http://imgur.com/w3kZzuM
The opening is between the addition on my home and my kitchen. The home is a concrete block home and the opening in which I want to place the tank was originally a window in the original exterior wall. The floors are poured concrete. There is more than enough structure to support the weight of the tank in that location.
What I need help with is a setup that would allow me to fill the space with a 48" wide tank and keep as much of the filtration and water flow either in the tank, above the tank or in a narrow space beside it.
I'd like the tank to be view-able from both sides of the opening so many of the tanks I've seen that are designed to operate without a stand sacrifice one of the long sides for a false back for the equipment.
I really like this spot for two reasons: it will be visible from both the kitchen and living area in the rear addition. The large kitchen sink is located immediately behind it for ease of filling/draining. I just need help coming up with ideas to make it work!
In a dream world, I would love for this to be a reef tank, but I'm beginning to realize that the limitations of the location would best suit it to freshwater.
