Contracting jobs after I get out

Hey all,

I have a couple years years till I retire. I am starting to prepare myself for a life where I have to get a real job. Due to the fact I have a family I am a bit concerned about how much contractor jobs pay. I am not expecting to become rich but want to make sure we can afford to eat. Retirement pay is nice but I still need a job.

Some items about me.

  1. I have a security clearance
  2. I will be security plus certified in May
  3. Doing Intel for 17 years
  4. Very experienced with DGCS and Intel architecture (yes I know DCGS is the devil)
  5. Will have a Bachelors in history, currently two associates and will probably grab another associates in computer science.
  6. Might be DCGS FSE certified.
  7. I want to go to Colorado.

I am not looking for a job, yet. But I am concerned about my options. I figure I will need about 50,000 minimum to live comfortably. Based upon what you see here is 50,000 possible? Just trying to prepare myself thanks any ideas.
