Chances of getting approved for an apartment lease?

my boyfriends job is moving him across the country. I'm moving with him. he has had an apartment for 3 years that his mom co-signed with him, but he has no credit history. when we apply for a new apartment together, he will have proof of income (a good paying salary, appropriate for the area) but I will be temporarily jobless. I have really good credit history that I've been building for 6 years. Will my strong credit help him? or will my lack of income and his lack of credit history be a bad combination?
