30 Day Report - Single erotic romance novel / no erotica shorts

First time poster, long time lurker.

Total profit: $66.59

I spent $35 on a stock photos package, and $18 on a custom domain name. Netting me about $13.59.

Notes:

• I only published one Erotic Romance novel at 61,000 words in length, roughly 278 KENP.

• Averaging about 1-2 reads a day every day, people seem to read the entire book from beginning to end, if they start it at night and I only see a partial page count, i usually see them finish it the next day, which makes me happy.

• Full length novels sell themselves. I had a bad cover and a bad blurb, but it still sold right off the bat with zero marketing as a new author with no other published works. After the first few days I changed the cover, asked for some ARC readers on goodreads, and got myself one review. Then two more reviews followed from buyers (one four star, and one five star, my cheeks hurt from smiling like a loon when I saw them).

• Readers always want more. So I'm working on the next book in the series, although the titles themselves are stand alone / no cliffhangers. Just characters in the same universe.

• I feel like the only way to really pick up on the profit margin is to publish consistently, use back-matter to link to your other works, and keep a website with up to date information on upcoming releases. It seems the big players publish a lot and often.

• I don't have a mailing list. I still need to figure that out.

• I tried twitter but had zero click-throughs.

• Long term plan is to keep writing, post one book a month, and flesh out my catalog to keep readers reading after they finish the newest release.

• I experimented with 2.99 for my novel, and 0.99, it seemed that 2.99 only worked for the first 1-2 weeks, then sales stalled and I dropped it to 0.99 and got a few more sales. Will keep it there for now until my next book releases. I have good KENP but low sales, so I'm mostly just looking at the KENP for now until I get more books published.

• I did a one day giveaway. It amounted to a whole lot of nothing, no reviews and no noticeable sales or anything.
