Reused Keystream Attacks?

Hey, so I've been studying crypto and taking a few classes, and it's been brought up a few times that when using a one time pad, or a cryptosystem where you XOR the plaintext with a keystream, reusing the keystream in the future can be dangerous, as an eavesdropper can XOR the two ciphertexts to cancel out the keystream, leaving them with the XOR of the two plaintexts. According to professors and resources I've seen, these can be "easily" untangled back to the original two plaintexts. I did some research on my own to figure out how this would be done, and the one method I found involved guessing words and XORing them throughout the tangled plaintexts until you get more sensible plaintext that could be part of the second message. Is this the only reasonable way to attack this scenario? Because it seems like, to do this efficiently, you would need to have some prior knowledge as to what one of the messages was about. What other methods could you use to exploit the reuse of a keystream?
