Need help with user Mac I got from work

So I got a MacBook Pro from work. Not knowing if it was working at all or not. I brought it home and plugged in the charger powered it on and the screen came up. (No hard drive so no os) the glass was parting from the metal and I didn't like it so from work, I got a new screen. I replaced it and went to power it on only no display at all. (By the way I think it's a 2012 17") I figured oh well I'll switch back. Tried, no display. There's only two cables and they are in all the way. I did not pull straight up or anything that would damage it. However I did clean the logic board with rubbing alcohol and got pretty close the the connections of the display. But I doubt that'd be a problem since you can literally dunk a circuit board in alcohol and it'll be fine. Any ideas of what's going on?
