How often do you apply for a new card?

Been in the travel hacking hobby for about a year or so and the game is getting harder. Wondering how often the veterans are getting new cards. Do you meet the minimum spend one at a time and then move on to the next (about one a month or so) or do you apply for multiple cards on one day every 90 days or so?
