Did Lyle have Melungeon ancestry?

Melungeons are a group of people common in the mountains of southern Appalachia. They're darker-skinned than most "white" Americans from that area, and no one knows if they're descended from African slaves, Portguese sailors, or Romany Gypsies, or if they have mixed Native American ancestry. The most famous American of Melungeon ancestry is Elvis Presley.

Do any of y'all know any people of Melungeon heritage? Does Lyle remind you of them?
