As a person who quit Destiny after HM King's Fall came out, is destiny worth coming back to?

Like the title says, I quit Destiny shortly after hard mode King's fall came out. It just felt like a chore to play because of the new loot system and the random light level rolls, no Y1 weapons other than some exotics, and crappy PvE support, on top of Bungie's shady business practices at the time. I know the April update just came out, and apparently it has some pretty neat stuff in it. Basically what I'm asking is if Destiny is any better than it was a few months ago? The last time I played, the game had some serious issues content-wise and gameplay-wise.
