Yamaha MX 61?

I just watched a demo and it utilizes a lot of the same sounds (same engine?) as the Motif. MX 61 is currently on sale for $699. Should this be my first synthesizer? What I (think) am looking for... Something to learn to play piano/keys on, but in the process want to be able to utilize the synth to record some awesome sounds and maybe even utilize as a drum machine?. What are your thoughts?
