A Guardian's Guide to 335 Light [Spoiler] when it comes to loot/rewards
Hi there & welcome.
Well 1st of im expecting most of the readers will be 320-ish Light.
This is how i got to 335 Light within 8 hours of the expantion (some luck was enabled i guess)
To start with you will band together your group of 6 and jump straight into the hard mode king's fall (rewards there are already up to 335 Light) !!!Recommend Saving your MAIN guardian for the last run.!!! The Lootsystem works very simple you will ''always'' find loot that's slightly higher lvl light then you are when recieving the loot. Meaning while playing the raid @ 320 you will find 324-ish gear.
The items/rewards are 3 to 5 light levels higher then your CURRENT light level.
I cannot press enough how important it is to remember that your rewards will be slightly higher then your current light level. ~ that's basicly how i made this guide ~ Every armour piece you obtain during your 1st king's fall EQUIP it right away ''DO NOT INFUSE'' Weapon's you find will be infused in the weapon's your using but be carefull wich weapons. i'd recommend upgrading legendary/purple weapon's so you can always use/equip them to reach your maximum light level (with exotics this could cause problems). With a bit of luck you will already be 322-323 light when facing oryx. this minor light increase will result in oryx's rewards dropping between 325-328 light instead of 323-325 light. After defeating Oryx go to the tower
Before i move to the next step you might want to try ranking up anything (faction, vanguard whatever) if you did not recieve any class item upgrades. (cloak, bond, mark) Pray that it drops in the rank up package
Now from this part your approach may differ depending on the amount of exotic engrams you still hold in the vault.
DO YOU HAVE A PILE OF EXOTIC ENGRAMS IN THE VAULT???
If yes read these paragraph's until another sentence in CAPS passes by
If no scroll until the next CAPPED sentence.
i had around 40 exotic engrams
1st off keep @ least 1 preferably 2 entire exotic engram armour sets spare till the end ( so 1 exotic helm, boots, gloves, chest engram)
now with your light increased to 323-ish you will surely have that 1 piece that didn't drop @ all (hopefully not the class item). Let's say you didn't recieve a helmet nor boots you will grab 2 exotic helm engrams & 1 exotic boots engram. Identify the helm 1st (it will roll 326-ish) then either equip or infuse it in your current armour to increase your light then identify the boots wich might roll even higher if your light inceased by just 1.
do not infuse the boots if you dont have bulks of engrams. (if you can equip the exotic boots and increase your light do it) Then identify the 2nd exotic helmet engram. now you should have @ least a full armour set of 324-327-ish light. transfer that entire set to the 2nd character that's gonna do king's fall (With entire set i mean everything that's higher then 320: weapon's, ghost, class item, artifact, armour) That 2nd character is gonna infuse all the newly recieved armour pieces & class items, equips the ghost & weapons and head off into King's Fall @ 326-ish light meaning the drops will be 330-ish light.
!!---here come's the crappy part if you don't pay attention---!!
The rewards are based on your current Light level. Meaning if you upgraded your ussual primary & you kill the sisters, Oryx with your 320 Touch of malice equipped your rewards will be lower. Thus either sacrifice additional exotic primary engrams to keep your Touch of malice on equal light of your normal primary or make sure you switch back to your highest light before dealing the final blow. @ oryx this is pretty eazy just swap to highest light after bomb detonation & before he comes back into the middle then snipe him down @ sisters/daughters of oryx i killed the 1st sister with ToM then swapped to highest light and killed the 2nd sister with sniper cause it's nearly impossible to kill both sisters with sniper due 2 ammo issues. This same story goes for every part that gives rewards but thats a lot eazier.
Repeat the previous steps when swapping from character nr 2 to nr 3... it will probably start raiding @ 330+ light
After finishing your 3rd raid your character could be 333-ish light. Use exotic engrams as mentioned earlier identify engram for your lowest gearpiece since it will drop 1 á 2 light levels higher then your current light level. Make sure things like ghost, class item & artifact aren't pulling you down when you do this---you could grind artifact upgrades @ the court of oryx with purple runes they can drop up to 335 light. For Class items & ghosts head into the challenge mode of prison of elders (endgame reward) it will show you 2 items as the end of mission rewards however you can receive a 3rd reward wich you will only see once your in orbit/check inventory this item could be a Class item, Ghost or exotic and they can all drop up to 335.
Now with all this done you could be 335 Light already or 334 now if you kept those exotic armour sets in the vault like i recommended earlier. you will identify 2 full armour sets wich are all gonna be 334-335 light then shove them back into the vault infuse it on guardian nr 1 & 2 and you should have all 3 characters between 332 & 335 light.
THOSE WITHOUT EXOTIC ENGRAMS IN THE VAULT CONTINUE READING FROM HERE.
All the 321+ items you recieved from the raid or rank up rewards on your 1st guardian will be moved (move to vault and swap character or use an app) to guardian nr2 ghost, artifact, armour, weapons, class item. guardian nr2 will equip the weapons & ghost and infuse everything else(armour class item artifact). This way your 2nd character starts the raid @ 323-ish light. the rewards you get will be 327-ish light. Once again if you recieve armour you EQUIP it if it's a weapon infuse it.
!!---here come's the crappy part if you don't pay attention---!!
The rewards are based on your current Light level. Meaning if you upgraded your ussual primary (Hung Jury to 324?) and you play with 320 Touch of malice equipped (Sisters , Oryx) and your light level drops even 1 point your rewards will be lower. Thus you will need to devise a tactic if the gap is too big between your primary and your touch of malice @ oryx this is pretty eazy just swap to highest light after bomb detonation & before he comes back into the middle to recieve that final burst of dmg just snipe him down. @ sisters/daughters of oryx i killed the 1st sister with ToM then swapped to highest light and killed the 2nd sister with sniper/LMG cause it's nearly impossible to kill both sisters with sniper due 2 ammo issues. This same story goes for every part that gives rewards but thats a lot eazier.
Repeat all previous steps when swapping from character nr 2 to nr 3. head into the raid with 325-ish light and get 328-330 gear. After finishing the 3rd raid wich should've been played by your main character you can decide to max light that character or pass the loot to character nr1 wich still lingers @ 320 light. I'd recommend shoving everything into the main..i mean it's your main guardian or a reason right? Hopefully getting it to 328-ish Light. Now you simply have to grind the challenge mode prison of Elders. or if your artifact is your lowest gearpiece head to the court of Oryx and use those purple runes. (but i highly doubt that) Prison of elders challenge mode: @ the end of the challenge mode you will see a reward screen with 2 items (2 blue's or 1 purple engram) HOWEVER it can also drop a 3rd item wich is a Exotic,Cloak,Ghost so check your inventory after every run. again the light level of the drops is based on current light level. Apart from that Each Boss can drop an exotic engram if 3oC has been used so far i have to say im getting 50/50 chance of getting a 3rd reward (done about 18 runs so far) So slowly climb your main to 335. --Exotic engrams will be identified 1 or 2 light levels higher then your CURRENT light level. once your main guardian reached 334/335 keep playing to reap 335 light level rewards and boost your alts to 335 ;)
