Vapor is too hot after switching coils

I am extremely new to vaping. I am using an Ego One. So I just finished using a 6 mg nicotine e-juice that was fruit loop flavored. I cleaned out the vape and switched the 1 ohm coil to the .5 ohm coil that also came with the vape to see if there was a difference. I also put in an apple flavored e-juice that did not have any nicotine. When I took draws with the nicotine juice it was harsh and sometimes made me cough. Now with the new coil and nicotine free flavor the draws are sort of harsh but also feel very hot. I felt like the roof of my mouth was getting burned. Is this normal? How do I fix this? Both are 30 PG/70 VG. The batter is 1100 mah.
