My mom injured herself at work, and they are thinking about letting her go since she can't work for some time, is that even possible?
My mom is a GNA and works at a nursing home. About a week and some change back she fell at work (she says a chair broke that she was sitting in? Not sure the story). She was fine the next few days, then on her way to work her back started acting up, she had to go to the hospital, and they told her to take two weeks off from and said she needs to see a specialist. She was notified by someone that her job is looking to hire someone else and let her go. Is it even possible to get fired from a job based on anow injury you received while working? If they do try and fire her (she's very passive and probably wouldn't do well defending herself in talks) does she have any legal recourse?
Thanks for any advice you guys can give
Edit: I live in Maryland
