Soaking flax seeds in cranberry-pomegranate juice and fermentation (unintentional) . . .
I recently started soaking flax seeds in cranberry-pomegranate juice to add to my smoothies. I've been Vegan (2nd time around) since January. I needed to add more healthy fats to my diet so I started including flax & chia seeds.
I made a quick smoothie w/ the juice soaked flax seeds as an ingredient but forgot to put them back in the fridge (running late). When I got home from work, I started making a smoothie and noticed my jar of "flaxseed gel" had a thin layer of foam on top. Since I used to experiment w/ home brewing, I recognized it right away. I took a whiff. Yep. Fermentation. Today was the warmest it's been so far this year (70s) so I'm sure the temperature in the apartment was the main factor. I'm wondering if anyone can shed any light as to whether I should do with them? Hell, I'm wondering if anyone has ever done the juice + flax seed thing?
