Will the colors blend after my tattoo heals?

I got my first tattoos on Tuesday afternoon.

At first the tattoo seemed to have clean-ish lines, but I admit that I didnt look too closely until the swelling subsided. The black and greyish-blue color have started to overlap. It looks like the lines are uneven. Almost like someone painted too much and their colors ended up blending instead of having a clear separation.

Is this a normal part of the healing process?

The tattoo artist does great work, but I'm starting to worry.
