Question re fasting
Does anyone know if people with ileostomies enter a fasted state more than unaugmented people? :)
People enter a fasted state around 8 to 12 hours after their last meal. More towards the 12 hour mark as I understand it. This fasted state is what people are going for when they practice Intermittent Fasting as it is associated with weight loss and building lean muscle mass (really not 100% on any of this).
Anyway, does anyone know if this state is entered faster for those with an ileostomy? I ask this because we seem to process our food so quickly. Since the body isn't processing the bolus in the large intestine I wonder if that fasted state kicks in more near the 8 hour mark?
Please let me know your thoughts!
