Worshiping Money means you will Worship Whites

The following is a thought experiment. Haven't fleshed it out 100% but here goes:

Asian immigrants came to America primarily for one thing: money. They'll call it opportunity, but most didn't come here to get featured in the Museum of Modern Art with conceptual art-pieces that weren't possible back home.

The hero immigrant narrative assumes poverty back home, but most Asians were middle-class and given rise of China and India, and given purchasing power parity, most would have enough had they stayed where they are- and so would their kids. But they came here and many got rich.

I'm familiar with the Indian-American community (IAC) so I'll speak about that. Wealth dictates status in IAC in a way that American tycoons in the 19th century would consider unseemly. Indian immigrants seemed so narrowly focused on making money, that they rarely developed hobbies, weren't able to integrate fully into American society or culture. As such they could not measure their "success" by many other standards than money. And even if they could, the American Dream means how much $ you made, not whether you had a well-rounded, satisfying life or whether your kids had one. So that was the measure they used to as to whether immigrating here was worth it or not.

The problem with that? Have a look at the Forbes Wealthiest. http://www.forbes.com/billionaires/list/#version:static_country:United%20States

Just a sea of glow-in-the-dark white people. Now just because whites have something in more quantity doesn't mean we shouldn't aspire to it. Just because whites have more Nobel prizes doesn't mean that shouldn't be an aspiration of some Indian scientist. What's problematic though is defining your life around one factor.

There seems to be an Asperger's quality about many wealthy Indian-Americans. The notion that someone like Bill Gates would give away his wealth (and this was before it became fashionable) was unthinkable to them. But for whites, gratification from being a benefactor and the social prestige of doing so is an example of how whites have a broader view of what it means to be respected, even if wealthy. Meanwhile, rich IA's think "Bill Gates WANTS to be around poor people?? Why?". Whites prize the wealthy with a "common touch". Whereas the old wealth who act with airs about them are mocked. Not so in IAC. In fact, just the opposite.

IAC simply does not value non-monetary achievement. It's one-dimensional - money alone is a measure of your worth. If you have that kind of narrow-minded thinking, if you worship the all-mighty dollar, how could you also not worship the race that sits atop the list of wealthiest individuals?
