Pain from surgery

I was on a moped and got hit by and launched over a car the night before last. I fractured an elbow, among other things, and it required screws or plates or something yesterday. The pain was tolerable at the hospital on vicodin every 4 hours, but now that I'm home it hurts really really bad. Like crying in pain, bad. I'm on hydrocodon-acetaminophen 5-325 every 6 hours. The first 4 hours are not so bad, but i feel like the effects wear off at that point and the remaining two hours are awful. I cant tolerate it and started taking them early (4 hour intervals) but that's only going to leave me with enough for 5 days instead of 7. Will the pain be tolerable by then? Or if it isnt and i made an appointment with the follow up doctor would they think I'm being irresponsible? I really can't bear 6 hour intervals at this point.
